EcosimPro showcases CRYOLIB at the 18th IIR Conference on Cryogenics

Prague (Czech Republic). EcosimPro’s Group (EAG) took part in the 18th International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) Conference on Cryogenics, held 7–11 April 2025 in Prague. With a dedicated exhibition booth, the team presented CRYOLIB, the EcosimPro toolkit for modelling and simulating complex cryogenic systems. CRYOLIB was developped in collaboration with CERN for the modelling of the LHC, ATLAS and CMS facilities at CERN.

The biennial Cryogenics Conference is the leading international forum for temperatures below 120 K (‑153 °C). This year’s technical programme covered three core tracks:

A1 — Cryophysics & Cryo‑engineering

A2 — Gas Liquefaction & Separation

C1 — Cryobiology, Cryomedicine & Health Products

More than 100 peer‑reviewed papers were presented during the three‑day event, highlighting advances in superconducting magnets, hydrogen liquefaction, large‑scale refrigeration plants, and biomedical cold‑chain technology.

With EcosimPro / CRYOLIB EAG gives researchers and engineers a fast, physics‑based environment for designing the next generation of cryogenic equipment. EAG collaborations with CERN and other institutes (eg. ITER, Fermilab, etc.) prove that an integrated modelling platform for cryogenic simulation shortens development cycles and lowers risk.

CRYOLIB extends the EcosimPro modelling tool with libraries for low‑temperature thermodynamics, two‑phase flow, heat transfer, and turbomachinery. It enables users to:

  • Build 0‑D / 1‑D component networks or full‑plant digital twins.
  • Switch seamlessly between steady‑state sizing and dynamic transient analyses.
  • Export high‑fidelity models for control‑system HIL or mission‑profile optimisation.

Some real‑time simulations of helium liquefiers, cryocoolers, etc. were done during the conference.
