PROPSAT LIBRARY
The purpose of the PROPSAT Library is to provide the elements needed to simulate hydraulic transients in liquid rocket engines.
This library provides with some features which allows to simulate several types of liquid transients, like transients conditions caused by changes in the rotation speed of turbopumps, valve waterhammer… Some of these features are: effects of compressivility and inertia on cavities and pipes, heat transfer between walls and fluid, calculation of concentrated pressure losses (fittings) and distributed friction, etc.
It also includes the properties for a large number of liquids, like H2O, N2H4, MMH, UDMH…However, it can be used, also, fluids defined by the user.
Components
Some of its main components are:
- Pipe: It is the main component of the library, and is used to connect components in the model. It is discretised with variable number of node. Several realistic phenomena can be modelled, like waterhammer waves, cavitation in inner points, thermal expansion of the fluid, pressure losses, etc
- Collector: it is used to combine or split the flow. There are several types of collectors, based on the number of connections they have
- Valve: It represents a control valve
- CheckValve: It is necessary to specify a pressure difference to keep the valve open or closed
- Pump_4q: It represents a four quadrant pump, which includes the four pump operation zones
- Tank: There are several tank models with different numbers of flow connections
